The top level of any corporate or business Crisis and Emergency Management Response (CEMR) system is the Crisis Management team which is responsible for the strategic management of the day to day core business and more importantly the outcomes of an incident or emergency. The Team must be practiced in all aspects of business Continuity to be effective.

Business continuity may be threatened by internal and external incidents, natural and/or man-made impacts, public or shareholder actions, rumours caused by perceptions plus any number of other causes that impact on a company’s reputation. Some potential threats can be identified and included in the business continuity plan, but one cannot identify and plan for every threat; however with training and practice of business continuity principles the Crisis Management Team can address the problems as they arise and resolve the strategies needed to manage the issues with confidence.
